OMG! Does Everyone Have a UFO or a High Strangeness Story?! Share Yours, Win Valuable Prizes!!
In chapter 5 of The Space Pen Club – The Fellowship of The Pen -- there’s a somewhat humorous first meeting with entrepreneur and innovator Horst Rechelbacher in the Twin Cities, the man who would revolutionize the beauty world with his trend-setting company Aveda and later with Intelligent Nutrients. Horst eventually invited CSETI’s Dr. Steven Greer and I, plus other friends of his, to his lovely estate in Osceola, Wisconsin to have Greer lecture about consciousness and the non-locality of consciousness and how it formed the basis of his pioneering ufology work. Later Steve would demonstrate under the stars the contact protocols of the Close Encounters of the 5th Kind Initiative (CE-5).
What I didn’t write in that chapter is that the next day one Horst’s staff members was leading us to his office where he would write a fairly generous check to CSETI to continue its CE-5 work. The young woman, about 25 or so, started sharing her account of a UFO she encountered nearby one day, when an object flew up out of a field as she was driving her car. Pretty dramatic!
It seems the longer I’ve been involved in this arena, the more off-the-cuff stories I hear from people I meet, or from friends and acquaintances I’ve known for years, who suddenly feel the urge to share, confess or reveal their UFO experience, a pronounced synchronicity, or a related episode of high strangeness. In fact, just the other night, I got a text from an old friend who was reading my book and finding all kinds of apparent shared interests in some of the books I mention in my book:
“OMG! We have to talk. Seriously, how did I not know that we were on parallel journeys? Or, maybe I did,” wrote the friend whom I have not seen in maybe 20 years, even though we live in the same city! “The three most life-changing books for me were Edgar Cayce, Autobiography of a Yogi, and Letters to A Young Poet. And I’ve been lucid dreaming since I was 16. More recently, I’ve been waking at 4 am nightly.... a haunting NDE vivid dream two months ago has eclipsed the daily matter of my life.”
I admit, these are all must-read works for seekers, and for those who love poetry and the written word, the Rilke book.
She finished her text with, “Are you familiar with Prem Rawat?” I was not I texted back but will add it to the long list of books I promise to read someday.
Her out-of-the-blue text message reminded me of how little we ultimately know of the Earthly world we live in -- and not just the universe and its alleged “other” inhabitants and other weirdness, which we are taking baby steps to explore due to the limitations of modern technology and the occasional prejudice about where new knowledge lies “out there” and what it really is – and means.
That recent exchange via text reminded me of another thing in my book – a favorite quote from 1927 (hence the un-PC use of the word “queer”) from J. B. S. Haldane, a British geneticist and evolutionary biologist. Haldane nailed it:
“The universe is not only queerer than we suppose, but queerer than we can suppose.”
